PTFE

Polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE)

PTFE (Fluoroplast-4) is a unique plastic, obtained through the polymerization of tetrafluorethylene. It demonstrates exclusive properties, that are not found in any other plastics.

FEATURES

Functions at the very wide temperature range (from -260°C to 260°C);
Excellent dielectric characteristics;
Fully resistant to all of the materials used in the chemical industry, including „aqua regia“, humidity and other environment elements;
Low static and dynamic coefficients of friction;
Due to its molecular structure, PTFE shows a high mechanical strength in the wide range of temperature (from -190°C to +260°C):
its dialectrical properties do not change up to +200°C, its chemical properties do not change even up to +300°C;
In order to improve some of the qualities of fluoroplast, the articles are obtained by adding various additives such as coke, bronze, molybdenum disulfide, glass fiber and
carbon fiber;
The additives increase the wear&tear resistance of the material and reduse its deformation at high loads. However, most valuable qualities of PTFE remain unchanged.

APPLICATION

It is used widely in chemical, electrical engineering industry, instrument manufacture, machine building, in food industry and household equipment.
In chemical industry - containers, conduits for chemically active substances, etc.
In machine building - in the friction units of the mechanisms of machines and instruments as bearings and the supports of slip, mobile sealers of piston rings, sleeves.
The use of polyfluoroethylene resins in the friction units increases reliability and the longevity of mechanisms, ensures stable operation under the conditions of aggressive media of deep vacuum and at cryogenic  temperatures.
In electronics industry Fluoroplast-4 is used for the isolation of wires and cables;
In food industry and household equipment PTFE is used for the production of the revetment of the shafts for unrolling of test, antiadhesive and anti-burn-on coatings, for preparing packings of milk pumps and pumps for food  liquids, etc.
